Chris Mayers Executive Search Delivery Consultant & Head of Research
I joined Collingwood in June 2024 as an Executive Search Delivery Consultant, helping to find exceptional talent for our clients. I cover multiple industries, but I predominantly focus on delivering value within the Digital Health & Medical Technology Sector.
Since March 2026 I have also been working in a hybrid position as our Head of Research where I have been helping to shape the function and ensure best practice on all our assignments. I formulate and manage internal processes to keep us competitive and ensure our clients have access to the best talent in their respective sectors.
About Me
I have a 1st class degree in Sport Business Management from Sheffield Hallam University. I haven’t necessarily stayed in this niche, but the degree taught me that I wanted a people-focused career and recruitment could provide it!
I have a decade of experience in the recruitment sector. My career started in a fast-paced contingent model, but I have worked in executive search since 2018 and partnered with several leading businesses, globally. Whether I am working with a FTSE listed company or Start-Up Unicorn, I have prior experience at both ends of the spectrum.
The bulk of my delivery focused role is to provide end-to-end talent advisory for SME companies, this encompasses the following areas:
- Initial robust talent mapping to scope potential hires.
- Engagement and attraction of relevant talent for roles.
- Managing the screening process to ensure alignment with our briefs.
- Carrying out competency-based consultant interviews to ensure cultural alignment.
- Extended DISC administration to assess cultural fit in an objective, data-led way.
- Offer Negotiation to guarantee a successful outcome.
- Further onboarding and coaching to set our clients new hires up for success.
This end-to-end consultation is what I really enjoy, being able to provide meaningful data and insight to ensure people hire what they need is what keeps me working this role each day. I don’t see myself as just a recruiter, I resonate more the consultant end of the traditional role title, and I relish working with clients that want to leverage the decade of experience I’ve carefully honed.
Like most people, I “fell” into this career, and it has been something that I have been truly thankful for ever since. being able to enable global leaders to drive value with our clients.
Outside of Work
My main passion is football! I no longer have the knees to play but I still follow Portsmouth FC closely and try to get to games as often as I can.
I have a Hungarian Vizsla that keeps me on my toes and gets me out and about all over the Cheshire countryside. This has created a new hobby of visiting as many old-school country pubs that my wife and I can manage each weekend.
What I like most here
The thing I have always enjoyed most is speaking to different people from all different walks of life. The variety of meaningful work you can do with truly interesting people has always kept me engaged and keen to continue learning. I love forging long-last relationships with everyone that I engage with.
