National Account Director, Confectionery
Our client is a leading confectionery business with instantly recognisable brands. The business has grown rapidly in the UK, promoting further capital and people investment to achieve robust targets.
THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE
Successive years of growth led the board to conclude that the commercial team would benefit from a hands-on National Account Director to drive improvements in performance and ability while working closely with the Sales Director in setting 3-5 year business strategies.
The role was to be filled by a candidate from a blue-chip background but with the commercial and management skills to work outside of a matrix management structure. The candidate would ideally come from the snacking or confectionery category with broad experience of all retail channels. Equally important was this person's cultural fit into the business.
We approached this executive search assignment with a pure headhunting process. After collating and agreeing on a target list with the client we approached potential candidates.
Those candidates fitting our client’s needs were then progressed through to face-to-face interviews with ourselves. From this process, we were able to shortlist five highly experienced candidates with relevant category, channel and people management experience.
Two candidates were identified as high potential for the role and invited for a final stage with an offer being accepted by their chosen candidate.
