This interior building product manufacturer is one of the three most recognised names globally. They operate from 43 production facilities in 13 countries, with an annual turnover of some €1bn globally and over £110m in the UK.

Continuous improvement from within the main UK plant had historically been the focus of a number of engineers as part of a larger role. With the takeover of the company two years previously, the parent organisation highlighted a need to devise and drive a continuous improvement programme throughout the main plant in England. This was to include lean manufacturing, Kazien, Six Sigma, with the main focus being to drive out waste and improve productivity. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position would be responsible for six direct reports and would involve plant wide CI management and influence.

Having met with the client and spent time with all the associated decision makers Collingwood produced an assignment specification. This included company information, job description, candidate profile and remuneration package details. The document confirmed to our client that Collingwood had fully understood their requirements. Using their experience and knowledge of the industry, our consultant compiled and presented a list of target companies to the client. From this agreed list, key individuals were identified and approached confidentially to discuss the opportunity. A candidate shortlist of four was presented to our client along with individual interview reports and personality profiling. The supporting documentation identified motivation for wanting to work for our client and highlighted synergies between our clients and candidates values.

From the initial four, three were second interviewed at Director level, and subsequently, two were flown out to the International Head Office for the Vice President could meet them (highlighting the perceived importance of the role). An offer was made to one of the candidates, with Collingwood managing this and the notice process.
