Our CLIENT

Our client is a €300m, European, privately owned distributor of DIY and ‘get someone in’ home improvement and decorative products. The business recently acquired a UK business to help them grow their UK market share and develop a stronger customer portfolio. Customers included the UK DIY and High Street Retailers, Independent Retailers, Trade Customers and Specification Sales markets. With passionate and driven family owners, the business is led by its entrepreneurial culture, product innovation and strong values.

THE CHALLENGE

With a new UK MD placed by our executive search team, it was recognised that a programme of structured executive coaching would help her critical initial 6 months as she got to grips with the fast-paced UK business, European parent co and integrate the recent acquisition. 

Collingwood's solution

The appointment was followed by a structured tripartite coaching programme involving the Group CEO, the UK MD and the Collingwood coach. Clear outcomes and objectives were set at the beginning and measured against over the 6-month programme. The coaching was supplemented by Hogan Assessments to incorporate empirically validated, data-driven personality diagnostics into the process. Leadership strengths and derailers were blended with organisational challenges to create areas of best focus to increase performance and allow for a smooth transition during the role change.
