A leading UK Pharmaceutical manufacturer, our client was acquired by a global US Corporation to become a market leading producer of vaccines. Having already partnered the VP Procurement, Europe to strengthen his team previously he was tasked with improving the calibre of his newly acquired teams in the UK, Germany and Italy.
 
Objective
The newly acquired Procurement teams lacked individuals with any seniority, European exposure or indeed Best Practice Strategic Procurement experience in Pharmaceuticals. Our brief was to recruit a Head of Strategic Procurement for the company's Italian manufacturing site located in Tuscany.  Candidates had to have relevant experience with a Blue-Chip Pharma manufacturer in Italy. In addition they needed to be strong characters capable of driving cultural change in a very well established environment. This role was considered as succession planning for the VP Procurement, Europe.
