Our client is a leading international healthcare group. Their services include health centres, dental centres and hospitals as well as offering personal and company health insurance.
This assignment was on behalf of a Private Hospital they own and operate in London.
Reporting to the Hospital Director and an integral member of the leadership team, the Medical Director role is focused on ensuring the hospital achieves the highest possible standards of clinical and professional healthcare practice whilst being a positive force on commercial performance. Our client had an exciting vision for the hospital to raise its reputation and profile to the highest levels locally, nationally and internationally and this required positive change to be delivered.
Detailed discussions were held with our client in order to gain a deep insight the London Hospital. This allowed our specialist Healthcare Executive Search Consultants to fully understand the technical and behavioural characteristics the individual would need to possess in order to integrate culturally and deliver the ambitious objectives set and overall vision for the hospital.
Through a collaborative approach it was agreed that the search would focus on identifying Medical Directors located throughout the UK with experience of a similar role in either an NHS or private hospital. This was a very “niche” search.
An extremely rigorous search was carried out, with an approach made to over 224 medical leaders. After thorough telephone interviews with more than 10 candidates, 5 were chosen for face-to-face, competency based interview & assessment.
A four stage interview process was undertaken by our client’s Senior and Executive Management.
To add to their own appraisal, the interview panel were aided by comprehensive interview notes (provided by Collingwood after the initial assessment).
After evaluating each candidates performance and fit for the business a unanimous decision was made on who to appoint.
