Fairlie Healthcare has an established reputation as a leading provider of quality assured services. Its lead care centre, Fairlie House, is recognised by the Care Quality Commission as providing care of the highest quality.

THE ROLE

The Head of Operations role was a new position, reporting to and working very closely with the Nursing Director. It was deemed a critical role in the development of the business.

Fairlie Healthcare required an individual with outstanding leadership attributes to manage and develop the nursing team on a day to day basis.

THE SOLUTION

A detailed meeting was held with Fairlie Healthcare in order to gain a deep insight the business, its employees and the culture they had developed. This allowed us to fully understand the type of individual that would align with these values & contribute to the ongoing success of their service.

Through consultative dialogue it was agreed that the search would focus on private care providers, particularly those with a high-dependency care specialism.

An extremely rigorous search was carried out, with an approach made to over 140 individuals. After thorough telephone interviews with more than 10 candidates, 4 were chosen for face-to-face, competency based interview & assessment by Collingwood.

THE RESULT

A two stage interview process was undertaken by the Senior Management Team at Fairlie Healthcare.

To add to their own appraisal, the interview panel were aided by comprehensive interview notes (provided by Collingwood after the initial assessment). This gave the interviewees a detailed understanding of candidate’s competencies prior to the final stage interviews and allowed them to shape the assessment accordingly.

After evaluating each candidate’s performance and fit for the business a unanimous decision was made on who to appoint.
